Chair, Department of Community Dentistry – CWRU School of Dental Medicine

Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) is seeking nominations and applications for a full-time, tenured/tenure track faculty member for the position of Chair of the
Department of Community Dentistry. Candidates should have a commitment to the institutional missions of teaching, research/scholarly activity, patient care, outreach, community engagement, and organizational quality improvement.

Professional and academic experience must be commensurate for the rank of Professor or Associate Professor. Mentoring faculty and students to enable high quality, rigorous scholarship and service is expected. The department chair is responsible for the development and implementation of the Department’s policies and programs, management of the personnel within the Department, establish budgetary requirements and administer the budget for the Department, assemble files and make recommendations for appointment, Reappointment, promotion and award of tenure, and submit regular reports on the activities of the department to the Dean.

The Chair of the Department reports to the Dean of the School of Dental Medicine.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • DMD/DDS and/or being a graduate from a CODA accredited advanced education program in dental public health MPH or PHD preferred.
  • History of leadership, research funding, and productivity in oral health research.
  • Record of administrative achievement and ongoing leadership roles in academic dentistry.
  • Track record of sustained research and development with documented ability to attract extramural funding.
  • Collaborative management expertise with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with graduate and undergraduate CODA accreditation.
  • Ability to direct the continued expansion of community oral health and dental public health.
