Dean, School of Dentistry

DEAN

The University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) seeks an experienced and engaging Dean for the School of Dentistry with the vision and energy to lead the school into a new phase of academic, clinical, and research excellence. The Dean is the chief academic and executive officer of the School of Dentistry, who, with the support of Provost Jenny Lundgren and Chancellor Mauli Agrawal, will provide leadership for developing and implementing the School’s future.

The UMKC School of Dentistry seeks to appoint a dean who can strengthen the complex clinical infrastructure, elevate philanthropic support, advance inclusive opportunity, and collaborate with the faculty, staff, students, alumni, and leadership to position the school and university for continued success.

A passionate and world-class collection of alumni, faculty, staff, and students stands ready to support the next dean as the school looks to reach its vision of being a model oral healthcare education institution that maintains the highest ethical and scientific standards of care, serving patients and the profession in an evolving healthcare environment.

The Dean will play a critical role in launching academic and clinical services in the new Healthcare Delivery and Innovation Building. This $145M capital project will provide the community with state-of-the-art clinical teaching and healthcare services. Funded by the state of Missouri, federal resources, and private sources, the new clinical teaching space is part of a collaborative effort among UMKC, University Health, Children’s Mercy Hospital, and the City of Kansas City to catalyze future growth in the Health Sciences District.

The School of Dentistry desires to continue developing innovative programming and growing and strengthening its existing offerings and resources. It seeks to sustain its long and proud record of successful accreditation by the American Dental Association and search for new ways to enhance its competitive advantage.
