The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time faculty position. Responsibilities include serving as Director of Community Collaborations, in which the incumbent would establish and manage dental student clinical rotations in community clinics, and Director of the Division of Behavioral & Population Sciences in the Department of Clinical & Community Sciences. The Division emphasizes departmental activities that are focused at the community level and the profession’s role in taking responsibility for the population’s oral health, rather than only the oral health of patients who enter the dental care system for direct clinical treatment. The Division is also research-intensive and faculty conduct research on a broad range of topics in clinical and population-based research, including serving as the national administrative center for the National Dental Practice-Based Research Network
(NationalDentalPBRN.org). The incumbent will be expected to participate in and/or lead research activities.
Preferred qualifications include a doctoral degree (D.D.S./ D.M.D. or equivalent, M.D. or Ph.D) with advanced training. The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate innovation and collegiality within the academic environment. Excellent written and verbal English skills are required.
