The University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD) is conducting a search for a 100% FTE, Dental Public Health faculty position (DPHP) for our school in Baltimore and our collaborative supplemental offsite facility at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Fredrick, Maryland. This position requires that a candidate be a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health and have the credentials to obtain a license to practice dentistry in the State of Maryland. The DPHD must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess the ability to support a successful and innovative education and scholarship program. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to community engagement, population health, interdisciplinary care and a willingness to engage with other faculty to cultivate an environment that promotes personalized oral health and multidisciplinary research that will help to overcome disparities and inequalities in oral health. The DPHP will also work independently and collaboratively with UMSOD faculty to identify and apply for appropriate federal, state and foundation funding opportunities that will support the mission of the clinic, school and campus. Experience in clinical teaching, administration and mentoring in a community health care setting and/or a dental education environment are highly preferred. Experience in administration and engaging in research or support of research at NIH or some equivalent Federal Government position is also highly preferred. The DPHP will also be expected to provide clinical dental health services and supervise UMSOD senior dental students and dental hygiene students. As such, the DPHP should be sufficiently trained to mentor and assist students with complicated and sometimes difficult treatment procedures.
