Dental Health Administrator
University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Dentistry is conducting a search for the position of Dental Health Administrator (DHA) for our supplemental offsite facility at The Universities at Shady Grove in North Potomac, Maryland. The DHA will be expected to oversee daily operations of the dental office by managing employee relations, patient relations, community relations and achieving operational goals. Responsibilities include new patient outreach, nurturing community partnerships, engagement with local hospitals to enact a facility appropriate emergency department diversion program, and compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation standards. The DHA will manage office operations within budget guidelines to include clerical and auxiliary supply purchases, equipment repair and upgrades, labs and labor costs. The DHA will also recruit, hire and develop office team members to support daily operations. The DHA will work collaboratively with the Lead Dentist Practitioner (LDP) and Dentist Practitioner (DP) to effectively oversee the facility, student orientation, faculty orientation, operational integrity and manage processes for monitoring and tracking of patient referrals. The DHA will also work collaboratively with the Lead Dentist Practitioner (LDP) to support and engage in scholarship and identify and apply for appropriate federal, state and foundation funding opportunities that will support the mission of the clinic. The DHA will also work collaboratively with the LDP and UMSOD personnel to assist with recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling of volunteer community dentists. The DHA will respond to patient and employee grievances, complaints, and inquiries and will seek assistance when necessary. The DHA will perform other related duties as assigned.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a health administration related field is required. Participation in or the completion of a Master’s Program, such as a MHA or MBA are desired. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a dental office serving in a supervisory management role is required. Five years’ experience working in a dental office, medical office, multi-specialty health office, hospital or community health center is preferred. Experience with the initial launch and subsequent growth and management of a dental or medical care health facility are also highly desirable. Prior experience with the UMSOD including oversight for faculty volunteers and dental student clinical rotations is also highly desirable.
