Lead Dentist Practitioner
University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Dentistry is conducting a search for the position of Lead Dentist Practitioner (LDP) for our supplemental offsite facility at The Universities at Shady Grove in North Potomac, Maryland. The LDP will be expected to provide clinical dental health services and supervise UMSOD senior dental students, dental hygiene students and AEGD postdoctoral dental residents. As such, the LDP should be sufficiently trained to mentor and assist students and residents with complicated and sometimes difficult treatment and procedures. The LDP will also serve as chief of service and be responsible for the development and enforcement of clinic policies and procedures. The position requires a DDS/DMD or equivalent degree and credentials to obtain a regular or limited license to practice dentistry in the State of Maryland.
In addition to the professional qualifications listed, the LDP must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess, or have the potential to develop the qualities of successful supervision, as required by this position. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to community engagement, population health, interdisciplinary care and a willingness to engage with other programs to cultivate an environment that promotes scholarship, and interprofessional health care. The LDP will also work collaboratively with the Dental Health Administrator (DHA) to identify and apply for appropriate federal, state and foundation funding opportunities that will support the mission of the clinic. Experience in clinical teaching and mentoring in a community health care setting and/or a dental education environment are highly preferred. Training, experience or appreciation for public health are also desirable.
