NDA Statement on Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
The National Dental Association (NDA), founded in 1913, has served the marginalized and oppressed since its inception. As an organization comprised of a racial minority population within the dental profession who have frequently faced discrimination and bigotry, we stand in solidarity with all other populations that have historically suffered similar indignities and recognize that a broad diversity of experience, perspective and identity across race, gender, sexual orientation is essential to establishing an equitable healthcare system and a just society.
The NDA’s position on Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) is aligned with its longstanding advocacy for the underserved and its continuing struggle for health equity. We promote justice in the dental profession, in healthcare generally and in the public square. The NDA encourages diversity by providing a safe and welcoming environment for our members, our staff, and our partners without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. The NDA advocates for the expansion of access to healthcare for all people. The NDA is a JEDI organization that continues to advance its historic mission to provide high quality oral healthcare to the communities we serve.
